Our History
Back in the early 1950s, long before Grabill Plumbing, Heating + Cooling, Inc. was established, E. David Grabill and several family members left the farm implement business to start building homes in rural Ohio. A vivacious and determined man, David soon found his niche in the piping aspects of construction and built a business around the demand for indoor plumbing. He also passed on that knowledge and skill to his sons and grandsons. “Some of my earliest memories were at Grandpa’s shop or construction sites,” recalled owner/president Kevin Grabill. “We grew up climbing over pipes and helping Grandpa prep copper fittings for soldering. I remember, even back then, the emphasis on quality and doing a good job.”
David’s son, Gary, continued to use his plumbing skills while pursuing a teaching career. Plumbing provided his family financial stability through supplemental income during summer breaks and between teaching jobs. After a few years working for other plumbing companies, business-minded Gary started Grabill Plumbing, Inc. in 1986 with two employees—himself and his eldest son, Kevin. Working out of the family home at 72nd and Marty in Overland Park, Kansas, the business began. Grabill Plumbing got an enormous boost when a prominent custom-homes builder recognized the quality work of Grabill Plumbing and hired them as their primary plumber.
Years passed and Grabill Plumbing faced a generational transition. With his father’s blessing and guidance, Kevin Grabill, a master plumber by age 21, purchased Grabill Plumbing, Inc. in 2003. For years Grabill Plumbing headquartered out of Overland Park and Kansas City, KS and became recognized as a premier plumbing company. Their reputation of taking excellent care of customers earned Grabill Plumbing additional business from several more exclusive custom-home builders.
In the spring of 2019 they added HVAC services and so Heating + Cooling joined the logo. Now, with Kevin at the helm, Grabill Plumbing, Heating and Cooling continues in its pursuit of excellence. You can expect them to provide the same level of heating and cooling expertise as they have plumbing prowess over the last three decades.
